Houseplants

There’s more to gardening than just outside- try some plants indoors!

Here at King’s we carry as many houseplants as we can stuff into our salesroom, big and small. You can find ficus, draecena, palms and such that are taller than you are, to create a statement for tall spaces or commercial locations. We also have a nice variety of hanging indoor plants, like ivy, string of pearls, pothos, philodendron that will drape or spill attractively. Why not flowers? There are flowering houseplants, too, like goldfish, african violets, hoya, kalenchoe and stephanotis.

The main thing about growing houseplants is to realize just how much light is available in the spot you want to put them. 6′ or less from a window/light source is considered bright light, where most anything will be happy. 8-10′ away is more medium light, where you could still choose from a nice selection of plants that accept those conditions. 12′ from a light source is definitely low light; there are plants that will grow there, too, but make sure you pick the right candidates.

Houseplants are beneficial, too- it’s true! They produce oxygen, and clean up toxins and impurities from the air you breathe.

Sounds easy, right? It will be, especially if you get the lowdown from one of our staff on houseplant maintenance. We’re glad to offer advice, watering recommendations, fertilizer tips- just ask! We can also show you which plants are best for that certain spot in your home. Not finding the size or style you need? We’ll even special order just the right one, just for you.
